Maximalist Whimsy Lands at the Nantucket Hotel

Two newly transformed guest cottages at the Nantucket Hotel & Resort bring a high-style infusion of pattern and color to the island, unveiled during this summer’s Nantucket by Design. The result of a creative collaboration between interior designer Michael Kramer, fashion house Lilly Pulitzer, textile brand Lee Jofa, and Benjamin Moore, the cottages represent a fresh approach to resort living—equal parts tailored, expressive, and transportive.

A dreamy blend of Palm Beach whimsy and coastal New England elegance with a dose of maximalist flair, the cottages showcase Lilly Pulitzer’s newest fabric and wallcovering collection with Lee Jofa, interpreted through Kramer’s lens of modern coastal luxury. In the two-bedroom cottage, rooms are unified by floral motifs and a palette that layers vivid patterns with subtle architectural details. A standout feature is a painted mural in the kitchen, created by Lilly Pulitzer’s studio artists using Benjamin Moore paints—echoing the bold fabrics throughout and bringing the design narrative full circle.

The adjacent one-bedroom cottage leans into a more saturated aesthetic, with Benjamin Moore’s “Bird’s Egg” blue enveloping the walls and custom sconce shades, artwork, and floral textiles providing a rhythmic interplay of color and texture. “We wanted these cottages to feel like garden parties you never want to leave,” Kramer says. “They’re playful but sophisticated—designed for the guest who wants luxury and personality in equal measure.”

For Lilly Pulitzer’s chief creative officer Mira Fain, the collaboration speaks to a deeper brand connection with the island. “Nantucket is a very important resort town where Lilly Pulitzer has celebrated along with the community for decades,” she says. “These cottages are the perfect combination of all the things the Lilly brand stands for: a world of signature prints in an exquisite color palette, all wrapped up in a chic resort lifestyle.”
